Aung Tun

Aung lives in Lowell and brings a calm, dedicated presence to the ACE community.

  • He is currently pursuing his PhD in Global Studies at UMass Lowell, where his curiosity and commitment to learning continue to grow. Outside of his studies, he enjoys staying productive  and engaged, a balance that reflects his disciplined and motivated nature. At ACE, Aung loves teaching math, and his strong instructional skills make him stand out. He explains concepts clearly and patiently, helping students build confidence and truly understand the material. His thoughtful approach and natural talent for teaching make him a valuable mentor and a trusted support for learners. Aung’s combination of academic focus, enthusiasm for staying active, and genuine passion for helping students succeed makes him a wonderful part of the ACE team.

Daniel Morgan

Daniel Morgan lives in Billerica and brings creativity, enthusiasm, and a great sense of fun to the ACE community.

  • He has been part of ACE for one year and quickly became a favorite among students. A UMass Lowell graduate, he studied American Government and Politics with minors in Psychology and Disability Studies, giving him a strong foundation in understanding people and how they learn. Daniel’s hobbies include gaming, karate, and video editing reflect his energetic and imaginative personality. During recreation time, he introduces creative games that keep students engaged and excited. Kids love the way he spends time with them, and his ability to make learning playful and meaningful makes him a standout member of the ACE team.

Hester Pender

Hester Pender volunteers at the ACE Center with compassion, deep experience, and a strong commitment to supporting refugees in Lowell.

  • She draws on more than 20 years of public school teaching along with certifications in ESL, Spanish, French, and Special Education to help students build practical vocabulary, confidence, and essential communication skills for daily life and employment. Her patience, encouragement, and thoughtful approach make her a trusted guide for learners adjusting to a new language and a new home. Outside of ACE, she enjoys music, reading, and spending time outdoors.

James Thawnghmung

James Thawnghmung lives in Lowell and brings dedication, warmth, and steady leadership to the ACE community.

  • For nearly six years, he has been a committed volunteer whose patience and understanding make kids feel comfortable, supported, and excited to learn. James works as a construction supervisor and holds a degree in Business Administration. His strong work ethic and calm, encouraging presence carry over into his time at ACE. He enjoys weightlifting, playing pickleball often with older adults and teaching kids new things, a combination that reflects both his energy and his generosity. In 2025, James was honored as ACE’s Volunteer of the Year, a recognition of his outstanding service and the positive impact he has on everyone around him. His ability to connect with children and create a welcoming environment makes him an invaluable part of our community.

Su Myat Yee

Su is a Lowell resident who brings warmth, energy, and compassion to the ACE community.

  • With a postgraduate degree in Social Work, she approaches every interaction with empathy and a genuine desire to support others. Her love for singing, watching movies, cooking, and teaching reflects both her creativity and her joy in sharing experiences with those around her. At ACE, Su’s kindness and enthusiasm make her a natural fit. She connects easily with students, creating an environment where they feel comfortable, supported, and excited to learn. Kids are always eager to spend time with her, drawn to her positive spirit and gentle encouragement. Su’s dedication, caring nature, and vibrant personality add so much to our community, and we’re grateful to have her as part of the ACE team.

Mandy Dixon

Mandy Dixon is a creative problem‑solver whose passion for learning and expression shines through everything she does.

  • With a Media Arts and Animation degree, she brings a unique blend of artistic skill, technical knowledge, and imaginative thinking to the ACE community. Born and raised in New England, Mandy has always been drawn to the world of fine arts, technology, and animation. She loves sharing her interests with others especially when it means introducing students to new, fun, and meaningful hobbies. At ACE, Mandy focuses on building self‑esteem, confidence, and critical thinking skills in every student she works with. Whether she’s guiding kids through a painting project or cheering them on during karaoke, she creates an environment where creativity feels safe, exciting, and empowering. Her positivity is contagious, and her ability to connect with students makes her a beloved part of our team. Mandy’s mission is simple but powerful: to encourage creativity, spark curiosity, and help every student feel proud of who they are.

Jim Young

Jim Young, a proud resident of Lowell, brings a wealth of experience, dedication, and heart to our ACE community.

  • A retired professional with an impressive academic background, Jim holds two master’s degrees one in Mechanical Engineering and another in Business Administration. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jim is known for his active and generous spirit. He enjoys coaching soccer, staying committed to regular exercise, tutoring students, and engaging in a good game of cribbage. His passion for helping others and staying connected to his community shines through in everything he does. We’re grateful to have Jim as part of ACE, and we celebrate the energy, wisdom, and kindness he brings to our shared mission.

Elena Chijanoschi

Elena Chijanoschi lives in Westford, MA, and brings creativity, enthusiasm, and a warm, engaging presence to the ACE community.

  • For the past two years, she has been a dedicated volunteer who loves connecting with students and making them feel supported. Elena enjoys playing volleyball, drawing, and working out interests that reflect both her artistic side and her active, energetic personality. At ACE, she shines during homework help and recreation time, where she interacts with students in a way that makes them feel comfortable and excited to learn.

    Her creativity, patience, and genuine enjoyment of spending time with kids make her a wonderful part of the ACE team.

Ervine Chijanoschi

Ervine Chijanoschi is a dedicated and energetic member of the ACE community, contributing her time and enthusiasm over the past two years.

  • A Westford resident and current high school sophomore, she balances her studies with work as a lifeguard and holds CPR and First Aid certifications. At ACE, Ervine’s warmth and positivity shine. She connects naturally with younger students, helping them feel supported and excited to learn. Outside of volunteering, she enjoys volleyball, music, working out, and staying focused on her schoolwork. Her kindness, discipline, and enthusiasm make her a valued part of the ACE team.

Susan Scisor

Susan Scisor has been a cherished part of the ACE community. She joined the organization in 2004 and has been a steady, compassionate presence in our ESOL program ever since.

  • As an English tutor, Susan brings patience, encouragement, and a genuine love for helping others succeed. Her students often describe her as someone who listens deeply and teaches with both heart and skill. Before retiring, Susan earned her Master’s degree in Industrial Design, a background that shines through in her creativity and thoughtful approach to problem solving. She lives in Lowell, MA. Where she enjoys sewing and ceramics, hobbies that reflect the same care and craftsmanship she brings to her work with learners. We are truly blessed by Susan’s dedication. Her kindness, consistency, and unwavering commitment continue to enrich our organization and the lives of everyone she teaches.

Theresa Davis

Theresa proudly calls Lowell home, embracing the city’s rich history, creative spirit, and strong sense of community.

  • She’s a firm believer that a former mill town can still be full of heart and she brings that same heart into everything she does at ACE. For the past two years, Theresa has been a dedicated volunteer, and her favorite part of the work is simple but powerful: spending time with the kids. She helps create a space where they feel safe, supported, and valued, and the kids genuinely enjoy being around her. Her warmth, patience, and steady presence make her someone they naturally gravitate toward. By day, Theresa works in Human Resources, bringing nearly 20 years of experience in advocacy, problemsolving, and people support. Her professional strengths shine through in her volunteer work. She listens deeply, encourages growth, and helps others feel seen. Outside of work and volunteering, Theresa loves traveling, exploring new adventures, and spending time with her fiance and their pup, Lola. Her curiosity and love for life make her a vibrant part of the ACE community.

Rick Posch

Rick Posch, a proud resident of Westford, Massachusetts, is a retired educator whose passion for teaching continues to inspire students of all ages.

  • He holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering and brings a remarkable blend of technical expertise, creativity, and enthusiasm to everything he does. Rick is known for his energetic teaching style, his deep love for physics, and his ability to make complex concepts accessible and exciting. His YouTube channel, Rick Posch – Physics Teacher, is a testament to his dedication, offering engaging lessons and demonstrations that reflect his lifelong commitment to education. Beyond the classroom, Rick is exceptionally skilled in music and hands-on activities, creating an environment where children feel welcomed, encouraged, and eager to learn. His presence naturally draws kids in, and his ability to connect with them is one of his most admired qualities. Rick’s support for our organization continues to amaze us. His generosity, enthusiasm, and genuine care for our mission make him not just a valued member of our community, but a true inspiration.

Time and talent are as valuable as monetary and other financial contributions. The time and commitment you offer to others can be an asset and investment in the lives of many and their future. There are diverse opportunities to make a difference. Volunteer for various programs.

Tutors are always needed to assist with homework, and other academic programs. Commit to staffing an event sponsored by your corporation or organization for a more hands-on experience. Chair a seasonal, backpack, coat, or food drive if that is something of interest.
