ESOL Program Volunteer
Volunteer with ACE's ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) program and help New Americans in the Greater Lowell area improve their language skills and achieve their goals. As a volunteer, you'll have the opportunity to work one-on-one with adult learners or in a classroom setting and help them improve their English proficiency and gain confidence in their abilities. No prior teaching experience is necessary - just a passion for helping others and a desire to make a difference. Expectations of Instructors:
Teach every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and notify the Program Administrator as early as possible if you are unable to attend.
Create a welcoming, respectful, and supportive learning environment for all students.
Follow the assigned curriculum while adapting lessons to meet students' needs and interests.
Encourage students to practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing through interactive activities and everyday conversations.
Be patient, encouraging, and respectful of students' diverse cultural backgrounds and learning levels.
Track attendance and communicate any concerns or classroom needs with the Program Administrator.
Support students in building confidence and practical English skills for everyday life.
Levels: Beginner (In person), Beginner (Zoom), Intermediate (Zoom)
Beginner Curriculum: Instructor-curated curriculum covering topics
Intermediate Curriculum: Standout Book Level 2
Both classes cover topics such as: (with possible teacher's guide)

- Money and Shopping
- Body Parts
- Everyday Conversations
- American Culture Adaptations
- Personal Information
- Places in a community/city
- Different Jobs and Interviewing process
- Any topics students request to learn
SCHEDULES
Class timings: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 am to 11 am.
Fall/Winter session:
September 8th to December 17th
There will be no class on Thanksgiving Day.
Spring/Summer Session:
February 2nd to June 10th
