Mental Health Mentor/Mentee Volunteer

Join ACE's Mentor/Mentee Mental Health Program and make a difference in the lives of New Americans in the Greater Lowell area. As a mentor, you'll provide guidance and support to mentees who are navigating the challenges of settling in a new country, learning a new language, and adapting to a new culture. Description

Through this program, it is your role to help your mentee:

  • set goals using the SMART system

  • create a strategic plan to achieve those goals

  • track progress

  • evaluate the progress

It is up to you and your mentee if you meet on Zoom or in person. At a minimum, you will need to meet with your mentee once a month to set goals and track progress.

In the initial meeting, you will need to:

  • fill out the SMART goals form (and send a copy to the office)

  • discuss and write out a strategic plan to achieve those goals (send it to the office)

  • track progress on the monthly tracking sheet (send to the office at the end of each month)

  • evaluate the progress

Examples of Mental Health Goals

  • Going to the gym to build physical and mental health, healthy living

  • Developing friendships outside of their ethnic community

  • Spending more time learning about the community around you

  • Starting a new hobby
