ACE Center Students Take Field Trip to Kids Fun Fair & Zoo

On February 19th, ACE Center for New Americans’ volunteers, staff and 25 after-school program students took a trip down I-93 to visit Kids Fun Fair & Petting Zoo. Located at the Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington, MA, our ACE Center students were commended and rewarded with this trip for their tireless hard work, perseverance and pursuit of academic growth. While facing every day challenges of acclimating to the socio-economical, cultural and political adjustments of living in a new country, our students faithfully attend our after-school programs on both Mondays and Wednesdays. With a day off from school in observance of Presidents Day, this was the best way to spend the day, as all involved in the trip had a great time.

Congregating at the Massachusetts Baptist Multicultural Ministries office on Monday morning, members of MBMM/ACE Center staff, along with several selfless and dedicated volunteers help transport the near two dozen students from the Lowell office to Wilmington. Upon our arrival, students were eager to visit the multitude of animals that were on-hand for the day. Some of the animals that were in attendance included Pygmy goats, mules, tortoises, ponies, llamas, zebus, and more. Our ACE Center students spent the morning and early afternoon interacting with and learning about the animals.

After visiting the Fun Fair, volunteers, students and staff returned to the ACE Center for an afternoon of more games and fun, along with an impromptu pizza party. We extend our thanks and gratitude to the volunteers who made this day possible, and hope to celebrate our ACE students’ success with similar events in the future!
